Like most of the ride on the
Kettle
Valley Railroad one cannot capture the uniqueness of Myra Canyon in
photos. Named after the daughter of Andrew McCulloch it is probably the
most mythic section of the entire route drawing a vast array of
tourists
seeking both beauty and railroad history.
It is only another 12-14 miles from Myra to Shute Lake Resort which has
plenty of camping space. The food is a bit pricey so its better to bring
your own.The next day is an easy ride to Summerland via Penticton which
is only 25 miles from Shute lake. Take time out for a long lunch. There
is a SUBWAY and other restaurants if you turn left before crossing Main
street. When leaving Penticton at the junction of route 97 one can
procede along Lake Okanagon to the Summerland cutoff or if you want to
see Trout Creek bridge turn left at the junction and walk your bike up
the long hill that finally crosses the railbed at a small bridge.Head
north to Summerland.
